Remember when blogging was going to change the world? The internet was going to magically transform a series of websites selling crap you don’t need into the collective thoughts and voices of millions of people.
Then YouTube became big, and we all got sidetracked watching girl fights. (By the way, I don’t recommend you clicking on that link, lest you want to spend the next three and a half hours watching video of girl fights. I suddenly have an urge to punch a 14-year old girl in the face.*)
No matter. It might have reduced the average Internet consumer to watching TV on a computer screen instead of on a television set, but I for one embrace our video, pop-culture overlords. Take for example, this video of a gay Latino New Yorker dancing along to a K-Pop video (which, for the record, is AWESOME):
And this is why I love YouTube. Could this scenario have happen five years ago? Technically, sure, but inserting a flash applet of a 20-year old doing the shimmy to a Korean song is so much easier. And I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot more pop-culture references on this version of the weblog because of it.
* Just kidding, Dad
Best comment to that video on youtube: I’m so adding you on myspace!! and I love gay people!!
In the list of ‘best consequences of the advent of youtube,’ my #1 is ‘watching cute boys dance without having to pay a cover charge.’
Love the Simpsons ref, Ernie!
Seriously, that guy is good, even though its gayish..
He totally stole the “hands flapping behind your ass, then three-quarters turn while clapping above your head” move from me.
I have to say, I got pretty jealous while watching the video.
Just great, Ernie… Now I have K-Pop melodies dancing in my head. *hits replay*
I only clogged the interyoutubes after this for *2* hours. Show some self restraint
But thanks for reminding me that high school had some amusing/violent moments that would warp me for years.
I know I don’t care to watch it. But I can’t not watch it. He put it on the internet for me to watch.
…
I can’t believe I interrupted listening to Blue Oyster Cult for that.
So i agree, there’s a lot of crap out there. I mean don’t get me wrong, i like seeing guys shoot fireworks up their cracks as much as the next person, but it’s nice to find something amazing like this:
