New York, the post-mortem
[If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ve been back in California for a couple of days now. I just haven’t been able to post anything because of the giant stack of programming documents that greeted me at the airport. I’ll post pictures soon, but if you haven’t done so already, read Min Jung’s wrap-up and her photo gallery. Choire and Swerdloff and Eddie also have pictures. (That’s one nice thing about weblogger meets — everyone else has a digital camera as well. Why even bother taking your own?)]
Final thoughts on New York
- I didn’t get to see much touristy things in New York, besides Ground Zero [which has become a little too touristy for my comfort level, but that’s another story] and a twenty minute romp through Times Square. I’m slightly more irate that I didn’t get to eat a hot dog off the street than the fact that I didn’t get to walk around Christopher Street, the gay section of Manhattan. Whatever.
- The lack of touristy stuff was more than made up for by the numerous Guido sightings around the city. We’re talking slicked back hair, wife beater, gold medallions, optional accessory girlfriend with teased hair and halter top. To you people living on the east coast, this means nothing to you. For us Californians, people from New Jersey are just as much the tourist attraction as the Empire State Building.
- I liked the Chinatown in New York City when it was in San Francisco and, thus, forty degrees cooler.
And, back to work I go.
