junior senior
This weekend, Mike had the opportunity to score an interview with Junior Senior for the organization he works for. Would I want to come along for the interview?
Junior Senior, for those who don’t know, is a Danish pop/rock group that has received some pretty good reviews and a segment on MTV thanks to a catchy single, although they haven’t received much radio airplay in the Bay Area.
We met up with the band during their sound check. Ursula, one of the Youth Radio interns, conducted the interview while Mike did sound engineering stuff. I brought my digital camera, and if the band asked what function I played for the organization, I would say that I was their groupie bitch taking photographs for my weblog Youth Radio.
The interview went pretty well, and when Mike is done with whatever sound editing needs to be done, I’ll link the appropriate materials. Until then, there was a funny moment or two during the interview as well:
Mike: I noticed that your music has a lot of inspiration from those surf bands. You know, like the Beach Boys and… that one chick.
Junior: That one chick?
Mike: Yeah, you know… from the 50’s. And, uhm… she was on the Mickey Mouse Club. What’s her name again?
Ernie: … Annette Funicello?
Mike: Yeah… ANNETTE BENING! That’s it. Anyway, on to the question…
Oh, wife of Warren Beatty, how I miss your beach movies.
Ursula: So Junior Senior, how do you feel about how your music is spreading throughout the United States? It’s not really getting much radio airplay, but thanks to word-of-month, you seem to be going around like the plague.
Junior Senior: …
Mike: uhmm… the good kind of plague.
Ernie: uhh, the kind where no one dies.
Junior Senior: Aaaah. Ha ha ha. *shifts uncomfortably in seat*
