A who’s who of gay bands… to avoid. Elton John is so gay, he’s listed twice. Done without irony might be a parody, but no one is 100% sure yet. Update:Most likely a parody.
It has got to be ironic, they list the Spores first. Really, other than fans of the whole desert rock movement (Queens of the Stone Age and the Eagles of Death Metal crowd) who in the mainstream culture has heard of Molly Maguires new band, let alone the Christian mainstream or substream?
Molly is super cool, a great artist (musically and painting), has great hair, who cares if she’s got one song about suicide…. ;o)
p.s. per the last post, my dirty little secret is that I do own one Amy Grant cd… I promise I will put it next to the Spores in my cd case, even if it makes both out of alphabetical order…
Someone’s been having a laugh already, apparently, by getting them to add Ravi Shankar to the list?! Watch out for those Indian classical sitarists – subversive gay string-plucking – I love it.
I was intregued, so I did look into this. YouTube has removed the Donnie Davis videos for inappropriate content. BTW, you can still FIND the music video at
I have to say though, that I’ve met a lot of people in my life who WOULD take this seriously, so I’m not sure. Large chuncks of the site have been censored apparently, and some of the links don’t work. It’ll be interesting to keep an eye on this. If it’s a parody, it’s attracting a lot of the wrong kind of attention.
[...] You get to see just how stupid some people’s ideas are. All I can think of is that this site is created by some right-wing, religious majority wackjob, or a group of right-wing, religious wackjobs (the more wackjobs, the better right?). Apparently The Doors, Metallica, Eminmen ( I can only assume this is because of that Grammy Awards performance), Nirvana, Nickelback, Audioslave and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are all either gay or spreading gay propaganda. I guess I’m totally fucked then. The good list points to a slew of Christian bands which makes it just that much more obvious where their agenda is. Normally I don’t like to link to a lot of sites that I disagree with since in the world of cyberspace, links are power. But in some cases, they are just so ridiculous that they deserve to be pointed out. Link was from Ernie. [...]
Oh it’s definitely a parody. And some of it’s pretty funny! Check out the link that Kate has listed above, to the song “The Bible Says” – and listen to the lyrics. “To enter heaven there’s no back door” – almost pissed myself laughing. Seriously, how many Christians have you known to sing sweetly about how much God hates you??

it’s a joke. take a look at their youtube videos. (click “donnie davis”)
Frank Sinatra?!?!?!
He’s the epitome of 50s womanizing masculinity.
Jesus totally loves Frank!

They also list Eminem as “Eminmen”. See it? “Em-in-men”.
I guess I’d be a little concerned if my kinds started to listen to Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Or anyone for that manner.
Also, the quote at the top of the page there; since when was Oscar Wilde in any way a reformed homosexual?
Hahahaha “Safe Music” lists Cyndi Lauper – “She Bop” promoted masturbation – Let’s don’t tell them.
Cuz we all know we’ll go blind if we do that!
I’m sorta waiting for the Mafia to put a hit on this guy for defaming Frank.
And TED NUGENT is gay because he wore that loincloth — you know, like Tarzan, who was just sooooo gay… Ted Nugent might shoot ‘em all.
You bought a MacBook?!?!?!
Having “(?questionable?)” after Morrissey (sp?) was what really tipped me off that this might be a spoof. I mean, c’mon… MORRISSEY?

Check out Ian’s letter of support.
I may honestly dust off my coding skillz (ok, that might be stretching it) and build a how gay is your playlist badge for MySpace.
Frank Sinatra is gay, but they don’t have Franz Ferdinand on that list? Have they ever heard of “Michael”?
I knew it had to be a joke when I clicked on the C.H.O.P.S. page & saw the logo. So gay.

well, the comedian (yes, professional comedian) who has started all this has been outed:

Nat, I wasn’t sure, even after hearing the video (though I LMAO) because I’ve HEARD stuff like that when I was living in TX…
