I'm always worried about how my parents consume social media and the news. Feels very weird when you have to be the "parent" when it comes to tech, but I've accepted it.
This hits home for me. My mom is in similar need of friendship, along with many other layers of need. I'm fortunate that her (non-loopy) church activities keep her occupied thru much of the week. Saturday is always the rough day, and I try to get her to schedule a lunch with someone, anyone that day just to put some filling in that gap.
Dude, you cannot be everything for your mom. Does your mom play mahjong? Have a little club she can hang out with? I hate to say this like this, but- she needs actual social ties, not para-social ties. I'm not sure where you are in the bay area, but I'm 10000% sure there's a small mandarin/dialect-specific social club close-ish for grannies to complain about their kids while they do .... something. I'm sure you've looked into it or maybe tried it before, but if she's saying something, it might be worth looking around.
